Engineering Shift Foreman

About the role

The Engineering Shift Foreman will lead a combined mechanical and electrical team in a poultry abattoir environment. This role ensures disciplined operations, timely maintenance, and compliance with safety and quality standards while managing resources and downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise mechanical and electrical technicians on shift.
• Maintain discipline, punctuality, and adherence to company policies.
• Control labour and spare parts resources efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with management, safety programmes, OHS Act, and meat safety regulations.
• Oversee 20‑key planned maintenance activities and manage engineering downtime.
• Assist with budgeting, capital projects, and resource planning.

Required profile

• Matric or N3 qualification.
• Trade Test Certificate as a Fitter, Electrician, or Millwright.
• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a poultry abattoir, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Own reliable transport.
• Willingness to work overtime, shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
