Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric Analytics Platform

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to lead the implementation of a modern analytics and reporting platform in a large, multi‑system business environment. You will design and build scalable data pipelines, model business‑critical data, and help stakeholders turn fragmented operational systems into reliable reporting and analytics using Microsoft Fabric.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data pipelines and ingestion processes.
• Integrate data from multiple SaaS and operational platforms.
• Model and transform raw data into reliable, reporting‑ready business datasets.
• Design, maintain, and optimise Lakehouse and Warehouse structures in Microsoft Fabric.
• Build clean semantic models and reporting datasets that power Power BI dashboards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs and reporting requirements.
• Identify and resolve data quality, consistency, and reconciliation issues.
• Drive technical and architectural decisions independently.
• Monitor and optimise pipeline performance and reliability.
• Contribute to best practices around data governance, modelling, and analytics architecture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in data engineering or analytics engineering roles.
• Strong ownership, ability to navigate ambiguity and work independently across complex projects.

Required skills

• Production experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows, Pipelines, semantic models).
• Advanced SQL skills, including performance tuning and dimensional modelling.
• Proficiency in Python for data transformation, automation, and integration.
• Solid experience with data warehousing and Lakehouse architectures.
• Experience integrating data from REST APIs and SaaS platforms.
• Building semantic models and reporting datasets for Power BI dashboards.
