Accountant – Retail Distribution (Epping, Cape Town)

About the role

We are looking for a diligent Accountant to join a retail distribution business in Epping, Cape Town. This onsite position offers a competitive salary and the chance to manage a full spectrum of accounting activities within a dynamic retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, process and capture daily payments while maintaining accurate cashbook records and GL allocations.
• Manage foreign creditor documentation, ensure SARB compliance and reconcile foreign accounts.
• Execute month‑end processes: post journals, reconcile GL accounts, prepare monthly reports and support management accounts.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, process payments and ensure SARS compliance.
• Maintain and reconcile GL accounts, prepare year‑end audit files and provide audit support.
• Assist with asset registers, statutory submissions and broader financial reporting.

Required profile

• Diploma or B.Com degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounts, preferably within distribution or retail.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, VAT submission and reconciliations.

Required skills

• SAP or related ERP system.
• Financial reporting software and accounting systems.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office – Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.

What we offer

• Salary range R30 000 – R38 000 per month.
