Accountant – Multi‑entity & Project Accounting

About the role

Knight Piésold South Africa is looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join its Finance team in Sandton. You will manage the financial records for the Madagascar, Mauritius and Botswana entities and support project accounting across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain financial records and reporting processes for the three African entities.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, balance‑sheet reconciliations, cash‑flow forecasts and financial analyses.
• Oversee project costing, billing, revenue recognition and profitability analysis.
• Support month‑end and year‑end reporting in compliance with IFRS, internal controls and statutory requirements.
• Review VAT, tax, intercompany transactions and audit requirements.
• Identify and implement process‑improvement, automation and AI‑enabled finance solutions.
• Assist with finance‑systems optimisation, especially Deltek Vantagepoint and advanced Excel reporting tools.
• Collaborate with project managers, regional teams and other stakeholders to provide financial insights.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CIMA qualification or studying towards CIMA (advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
• Experience in a multi‑entity or group finance environment.
• Exposure to project accounting.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query).
• Deltek Vantagepoint finance system.
