Accountant

About the role

Afrimat CM Eastern Cape (Pty) Ltd is seeking an Accountant to manage full accounting functions, budgeting, cash‑flow and reporting at its Denver Quarry location in Gqeberha. The role involves both operational and strategic financial responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full accounting function and month‑end close.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow management.
• Review and process EFT payments and creditor reconciliations.
• Generate various financial reports and statements.
• Implement minor system upgrades as needed.
• Coach, mentor and manage the accounting team.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors.
• Assist with VAT and income‑tax calculations and returns.
• Conduct general ledger reconciliations.
• Support procurement, BEE planning, insurance claims and payroll deductions.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and BCom Accounting degree (or equivalent) with articles.
• 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Sage X3.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
• Positive attitude, problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently.
• Valid driver’s licence.
