Accountant / Assistant Financial Manager – Pretoria

About the role

The company is seeking a diligent Accountant / Assistant Financial Manager to support its finance function in Pretoria. You will maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with South African tax regulations, and assist with month‑end and year‑end processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date financial ledgers and record journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
• Process invoices, receipts, payments and manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Track fixed assets, depreciation and amortisation schedules.
• Prepare and file VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL returns with SARS.
• Draft correspondence to banks, auditors and suppliers.
• Assist with cash‑flow reporting and yearly external audit.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations and accounting standards.

Required profile

• Matriculation (essential) and a degree or qualification in Accounting.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Excel (advanced), Word and Outlook.
• Recent (minimum 2‑year) experience with Pastel or Sage Evolution.
