Zone Controller – Logistics Operations

About the role

The Zone Controller oversees the daily activities of courier teams within a designated area, ensuring collections, deliveries, and vehicle operations run smoothly and on schedule. This role acts as the primary liaison between ground couriers, senior supervisors, and the fleet controller.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor on‑time collections and verify sorting of shipments.
• Ensure all required materials (stickers, flyers, vouchers, bags, declaration letters, airway bills, etc.) are stocked in courier bins.
• Hand over shipments, run‑sheets and scanners to ground couriers and confirm their departure times.
• Provide feedback on route and load distribution to update system routes.
• Determine skeleton staffing levels and coordinate courier vacations with the ground operations supervisor.
• Maintain service level agreements for deliveries and manage outstanding documentation (PODs, invoices, checklists).
• Oversee vehicle cleanliness, conduct daily checklists, report accidents, and ensure radios and tools are functional.
• Monitor staff timekeeping, appearance, and take disciplinary action when required.
• Assist senior supervisors with performance appraisals and address personal issues of team members.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising courier or logistics teams.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple operational tasks.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting to senior supervisors and coordinating with fleet control.
• Ability to enforce safety and security standards for cargo, personnel, and vehicles.

Required skills

• Operation of scanning equipment and collection management tools.
• Vehicle inspection and checklist completion.
• Handling of logistics documentation (airway bills, PODs, run‑sheets).
