Zone Controller

About the role

The Zone Controller oversees courier operations within a designated area, ensuring timely collections, accurate documentation, and smooth vehicle management. This on‑site role coordinates staff, monitors performance, and supports the ground operations supervisor to maintain high service levels.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure couriers complete collections on time and verify sorting of shipments.
• Check that all required materials (stickers, flyers, vouchers, bags, declaration letters, airway bills, etc.) are stocked in courier bins.
• Hand over shipments, run‑sheets and scanners to ground couriers and confirm departure times.
• Provide feedback on route and load distribution to update system routes.
• Determine skeleton staffing, arrange courier vacations, and manage leave documentation.
• Generate and reschedule collection sheets, monitor daily collections, and report statistics.
• Inspect vehicle cleanliness, complete daily vehicle checklists, and report accidents or equipment issues.
• Monitor staff timekeeping, appearance, and disciplinary actions, and assist in performance appraisals.
• Secure cargo, personnel, and vehicles, and follow up on outstanding documentation such as PODs, invoices, and delivery sheets.

Required profile

• Experience in courier or logistics operations with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong attention to detail for documentation and vehicle inspections.
• Ability to coordinate staff schedules and handle leave or disciplinary matters promptly.
• Good communication skills for reporting to senior supervisors and account managers.

Required skills

• Operation of scanning equipment and collection sheet generation.
• Handling of airway bills, stickers, vouchers, and other courier materials.
• Vehicle inspection and checklist management.
• Use of logistics management procedures for route and load planning.
