Workshop Superintendent

About the role

The Workshop Superintendent oversees all workshop activities, manages staff, ensures safe vehicle maintenance and compliance with OHS regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Control and train subordinate staff, taking corrective action where necessary.
• Issue work orders and instructions, including for external breakdown companies.
• Diagnose defects on a variety of vehicles.
• Supervise work carried out by artisans.
• Maintain safe working practices and comply with the OHS Act.
• Test vehicles from the workshop and those returning from agents.
• Inspect and test air‑compressor pressure vessels, hydraulic cranes, aerial platforms and other plant equipment.
• Assist the Superintendent in monitoring standby generator activities and regular inspections.
• Allocate workshop vehicles to subordinates and monitor their usage.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant workshop experience.
• Relevant trade certificate and a valid EC1 motor vehicle driver’s licence (PRDP).
• Computer literacy.

Required skills

• Vehicle diagnostics across a variety of vehicle types.
• Inspection and testing of air‑compressor pressure vessels, hydraulic cranes and aerial platforms.
• Computer literacy for workshop management systems.
