Vehicle Purchasing Call Centre Manager

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑driven, organised and proactive manager to lead the Vehicle Purchasing Call Centre. The role oversees the end‑to‑end purchasing function in a fast‑paced vehicle operations environment, ensuring vehicles move efficiently from acquisition to sale.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and train Purchasing Supervisors, Purchasers, Sales Admin, Lead Converters and Branch Purchasers.
• Drive high lead conversion rates and exceed purchasing targets through effective sales negotiation.
• Monitor daily vehicle stock statuses (Inbound, In Bond, Dealer Stock, Sold Not Paid, etc.) and ensure smooth progression through each stage.
• Follow up on problem vehicles, NATIS, SAPS issues, admin marks, registration documents and any delays preventing sale readiness.
• Review reports to confirm vehicle condition, code, make, variant, year model and starter status before purchase.
• Oversee lead activity across web, own, branch and external channels, managing stages from New Leads to Accepted Pending Payment.
• Track paid sales contract turnaround times, supplier payments, consignment stock, reserve prices and finance‑related follow‑ups.
• Hold regular meetings with supervisors and branch purchasers to resolve operational issues and maintain standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience in call centre, sales call centre, automotive, logistics or related customer‑focused environments.
• Proven ability to manage and develop teams, allocate work and hold members accountable.
• Strong planning, organisation, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Comfortable handling high volumes, urgent matters and strict turnaround times across multiple departments.
• Computer literacy with confidence using operational systems, reports, shared mailboxes, dashboards and online communication platforms.
