Utilities Support Technician

About the role

This permanent role suits a practical technician who enjoys hands‑on work across water, electrical and metering systems. You will monitor consumption, record meter readings, inspect infrastructure for faults and leaks and carry out basic maintenance and minor repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor water and electricity consumption and record meter readings.
• Inspect infrastructure for faults, leaks and other issues.
• Carry out basic maintenance, minor repairs and support contractors during shutdowns.
• Log and escalate service failures and maintain accurate service logs.
• Assist with meter installations, replacements and testing while ensuring safe working practices and PPE compliance.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
• Technical qualification in electrical, plumbing or mechanical fields.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in utilities, maintenance or building services.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of water, electrical and metering systems.
• Competent use of basic hand and test tools.
• Ability to read and apply technical instructions.
• Sound understanding of safety procedures and PPE requirements.
