Travel Manager

About the role

The Travel Manager will design and lead a Group‑wide travel strategy that aligns with Massmart’s operational needs and Walmart’s global travel standards. The role ensures policy compliance, operational excellence, cost efficiency and a high‑quality traveler experience across all travel, conferencing and event services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a future‑fit Group Travel Strategy aligned with Walmart Global Travel standards.
• Maintain and update the Group Travel Policy and translate it into actionable guidelines for bookers and travelers.
• Lead digital transformation of travel operations through process standardisation and automation.
• Monitor compliance with travel, conferencing and event booking processes and enforce SLA adherence.
• Oversee commercial relationships, negotiations and contracts with airlines, hotels, car‑rental and visa agencies.
• Integrate travel finance processes, including payment reconciliation and fraud controls.
• Onboard new business units and ensure functionality of online booking tools and related systems.
• Monitor travel security alerts, manage risk communications and enforce ethics and anti‑corruption standards.
• Manage travel insurance issuance, foreign‑exchange compliance and related reconciliations.
• Compile, measure and report on travel service level agreements and performance metrics.

Required profile

• Proven experience in corporate travel management and policy development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead digital transformation and process optimisation.
• Strong stakeholder management and supplier negotiation skills.
• Solid understanding of travel security, compliance and risk management.
• Financial acumen with experience in travel finance integration and cost control.
