Transport Technical Assistant

About the role

Premier FMCG is seeking a Transport Technical Assistant to keep its fleet of vehicles operating safely, efficiently and on schedule. The role supports daily fleet operations, maintenance and compliance across the company’s bakery and distribution network.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and lube services on fleet vehicles.
• Complete daily fleet check‑sheets and ensure all vehicles are booked for service.
• Report and document any defects, accidents or damages to the Transport Controller.
• Maintain a clean workshop bay and storeroom and ensure all work is recorded on job cards with parts issued.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, file paperwork and manage monthly Certificate of Fitness (COF) checks.
• Control tyre stock, perform reconciliations and oversee fines and traffic‑violation records.
• Provide after‑hours breakdown assistance when required.

Required profile

• Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Technical background with at least 2 years of fleet experience.
• Valid driver’s licence – C1 (EC1 advantageous).

Required skills

• Vehicle maintenance and lube servicing.
• Fleet inspection and documentation.
• Tyre stock management.
• Certificate of Fitness (COF) administration.
• Valid C1 driver’s licence.
