Transport Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead our fleet operations and drive efficient logistics across Johannesburg. This senior position requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a proven track record in transport and supply chain management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily fleet operations, ensuring timely and cost‑effective transportation.
• Manage vehicle licensing, inspections, and all transport documentation.
• Develop and monitor budgets, control costs, and report financial performance.
• Implement and maintain Transport Management Systems (TMS) and vehicle tracking solutions.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and industry standards.
• Lead a team of drivers and support staff, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and produce regular operational reports.

Required profile

• Matric certificate or equivalent; tertiary qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in transport, fleet operations, or supply chain.
• At least 5 years in a managerial role with strong financial acumen.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and overall MS Office proficiency.
• Experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS).
• Knowledge of vehicle tracking and monitoring technologies.
• Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and KPI tracking.
