Training Officer / Manager – Logistics Driver Trainer

About the role

The role is responsible for managing the internal Driver Training Centre of a transport and logistics company. You will lead a team of Driver Trainers, ensure the delivery of high‑quality driver training programmes and maintain compliance with TETA and SETA regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Driver Training Centre.
• Lead, supervise and schedule Driver Trainers, monitoring their performance and compliance.
• Facilitate and coordinate driver training programmes, learnerships and structured training plans.
• Conduct driver assessments, guide trainers on moderation and review Portfolios of Evidence to meet accreditation standards.
• Ensure compliance with TETA, ETDP SETA and other legislative requirements; compile Workplace Skills Plans and Annual Training Reports.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and induction of drivers, verifying competency and safety.
• Monitor driver performance post‑training, develop improvement plans and deliver corrective training for high‑risk drivers.
• Maintain training records, produce performance reports, manage training budgets, stock and KPIs.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in training and development.
• Experience managing a team of trainers or a training function.
• Proven background in driver training within transport/logistics.
• Registered Assessor and Moderator.
• Strong knowledge of TETA/SETA compliance frameworks.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
