Trainee Lawyer (Training Contract) - Johannesburg

About the role

Allen & Overy, one of the world's leading law firms operating in over thirty countries, is recruiting a trainee for its Johannesburg office. The position is a permanent training contract with a six-month rotation every six months, giving experience across corporate, banking, ICM/regulatory, litigation and projects.

What you will do

• Work in a dynamic environment within a leading international law firm, with varied and interesting work
• Gain experience across legal sectors through a six-month rotation every six months
• Work with other departments, both in South Africa and internationally
• Access the firm's international knowledge platform
• Have personal contact with local and international clients
• Take part in dedicated local and global training programmes covering communication, IT skills, management and business development

Required profile

• Relevant qualification such as BCom Law, BA Law or LLB; an additional degree is an asset
• Team player with excellent legal capabilities, entrepreneurial spirit and good communication skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team under pressure
• Sense of responsibility, confidentiality and flexibility

• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise workload and multitask effectively
