Trade Support Specialist, Vanilla

About the role

Liberty is hiring a Trade Support Specialist within its Middle Office in Johannesburg. The specialist acts as a link between the Africa Trading Desk and the wider operational ecosystem, ensuring that trades in Money Markets and Interest Rate Derivatives are processed precisely, meet regulatory standards and give clients a seamless experience. The role sits in the Middle Office of a Tier-1 bank and covers the full trade lifecycle, including enrichment, validation and allocation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and facilitate the end-to-end trade lifecycle for Money Markets and Interest Rate Derivatives.
• Proactively identify, investigate and resolve trade exceptions and client queries.
• Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards to mitigate operational risk.
• Drive continuous improvement by refining manual processes and suggesting system enhancements.
• Work with Finance, Technology and front-office trading desks so that trade settlement is efficient and error-free.
• Support the Africa Trading Desk across jurisdictions, including during South African public holidays when market demand requires it.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Trade Support Operations, with a deep understanding of the Global Markets trade lifecycle.
• Relevant first degree in Business Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Mathematical Sciences.
• Ability to examine information, manage tasks under pressure and uphold professional standards.

Required skills

• Technical competence with complex products such as Interest Rate Swaps, Total Return Swaps, Structured Notes, Bonds, FX Spots and Non-Deliverable Forwards.
• Solid grasp of pricing and risk management principles and their impact on P&L.
• Proficiency in banking-specific software and advanced Microsoft tools, with quick adaptation to desk-specific systems.
