Temporary Financial Accountant (Year-End Support)

About the role

A six-month contract is available for an experienced Financial Accountant to support a busy Finance team at the Cape Town Waterfront during the year-end period. The role provides hands-on financial accounting support across general ledger management, reconciliations, fixed assets, banking administration and year-end accounting processes. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Key responsibilities

• Manage general ledger accounts and complete GL reconciliations, investigating reconciling items
• Prepare journals and accounting entries, and maintain balance sheet schedules
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting, and support financial reporting
• Manage and reconcile fixed assets, and prepare supporting schedules
• Assist with banking administration and bank reconciliations
• Assist with audit information and maintain accurate financial records
• Provide ad hoc finance support

Required profile

• Relevant Finance / Accounting qualification
• At least 3 years of relevant financial accounting experience
• Immediate availability and willingness to work a six-month contract
• Finance-qualified individual able to work independently in a deadline-driven environment

Required skills

• General ledger and GL reconciliation experience
• Fixed asset accounting and banking administration / reconciliation exposure
• Strong numerical ability and attention to detail
• Able to meet tight deadlines

Advantageous: BCom Finance / Accounting, retail or FMCG experience, year-end accounting exposure and audit-support experience.
