Technology Services Specialist – Field IT Support (Cape Town)

About the role

FedEx is seeking a Technology Services Specialist to serve as the primary technical authority for its operations in Sub‑Saharan Africa. Based in Cape Town, you will provide hands‑on and remote support to FedEx staff, customers and third‑party partners, ensuring the smooth operation of critical logistics systems.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver remote, on‑site and depot technical support for electronic technologies, network infrastructure and software applications used by FedEx operations and regional customers.
• Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, component and network issues across local and remote SSA sites.
• Apply specialist knowledge to improve cross‑departmental processes and align them with global corporate goals.
• Participate in, and occasionally lead, the design, testing and deployment of new technology processes and infrastructure enhancements.
• Act as the trusted technical anchor in Cape Town, managing site visits, remote troubleshooting and vendor coordination while staying aligned with the Johannesburg IT leadership team.

Required profile

• Proactive self‑starter who thrives working independently.
• Strong technical intuition and effective communication across diverse, distributed teams.
• 3‑4 years of hands‑on experience in field IT, infrastructure support, network diagnostics or technical customer support.
• Proven track record supporting deployed hardware, enterprise applications and network components both remotely and on‑site.
• Willingness to work autonomously in Cape Town while supporting remote environments across the SSA region.
