Technician – Cash Processing Equipment Maintenance

About the role

The Technician will ensure maximum uptime and efficiency of cash processing equipment such as banknote and coin counters and sorters. You will work on‑site in Durban, performing hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting and optimisation while supporting the Mechanical Maintenance Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on SBV cash processing machinery according to OEM standards.
• Diagnose faults, resolve incidents and conduct daily equipment inspections for early fault detection.
• Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts to minimise downtime.
• Prepare and submit daily and monthly performance reports, including SARB test pack audits.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and support ESG reporting.
• Act as a change champion, promoting company values and a performance‑driven culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ hands‑on experience with automated, electro‑mechanical or industrial equipment in a continuous‑operations environment.
• Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Millwright, Electrician, Fitter & Turner) or a National Diploma/NQF Level 5 in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering (advantageous).
• Prior experience in cash processing, banking, manufacturing or other security‑controlled settings is a plus.
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office) for maintenance reporting.
