Technical Services Manager

About the role

Our manufacturing client in Durban is seeking a Technical Services Manager with at least five years of experience in the polymer/composites industry. The role combines technical leadership, customer support, product development, and continuous improvement to drive innovation aligned with company objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee, develop and direct the Technical Services team.
• Spearhead research and development initiatives for new and existing products.
• Refine formulations to improve quality while reducing costs.
• Manage technical projects from conception through rollout.
• Provide technical assistance and problem resolution for customers and branch locations.
• Evaluate product complaints and implement corrective action plans.
• Deliver technical training to customers, sales personnel and internal staff.
• Maintain technical records and formulation specifications.
• Coach and develop technical team members.
• Collaborate with suppliers, licensors and strategic partners on emerging technologies.
• Champion sustainable green‑technology practices and ongoing innovation.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the polymer/composites industry.
• BSc Chemistry or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in manufacturing environments and health & safety compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to drive creative innovation and sustainable green‑technology initiatives.
