Technical Installer - Smart Home, AV & Networking

About the role

A specialist technology integration company is looking for an experienced Technical Installer to join its Johannesburg installation team. The role covers installing, configuring and supporting smart home systems, home cinema solutions, audio-visual equipment, networking infrastructure and low-voltage technologies in high-end residential properties. It is not an entry-level position.

Key responsibilities

• Install and configure smart home, AV, networking and low-voltage systems
• Perform structured cabling, cable termination and fault-finding
• Install equipment racks and ensure professional cable management
• Set up audio-visual systems, multi-room audio/video and home cinema components
• Install and configure IP-based devices such as routers, switches, Wi-Fi systems, CCTV and access control
• Read and interpret technical drawings and installation plans
• Troubleshoot system issues and solve problems on site
• Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, designers and project teams
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, neatness and respect for client property
• Senior candidates: supervise junior technicians and manage installation sites

Required profile

• Valid South African driver's licence (non-negotiable)
• N6 Electronics or equivalent technical qualification
• Proven hands-on installation experience
• Strong understanding of electronics and low-voltage systems
• Ability to read technical drawings and plans, troubleshoot and communicate professionally
• Reliable, punctual and team-oriented
