HPE Networking Presales Engineer

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Networking Presales Engineer in Sandton, South Africa. The role is onsite, with the expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE partner or customer office. It is a consulting systems engineer position focused on selling to customers, working mainly outside HPE offices, and acting as a subject matter expert in networking solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of the unstructured data market, HPE Networking portfolio and customer business and technical needs to articulate proposals.
• Design network solutions aligned to customer requirements, using knowledge of the customer's technical environment.
• Contribute to industry developments through content, presentations, demos and booth support at conferences and events, and use social media.
• Participate in account business planning and build the pipeline by identifying enhancements, unmet needs, up-selling and cross-selling opportunities.
• Work with account team leadership (HPE and partners) to define value propositions, negotiation points and missed opportunities.
• Document work across the sales cycle and share knowledge with peers and help develop junior team members.

Required profile

• First-level university technical degree or equivalent technical qualifications; an advanced degree in technology is preferred.
• Technical experience in IT with a focus on networking solutions.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in network technologies.
• English and French speaking is desired.

Required skills

• Consultative and value selling, including whiteboarding, customer demonstrations, objection handling and closing.
• Understanding of the indirect selling model, including direct and joint engagement with partners.
• Communication skills such as active listening and storytelling.
