Team Leader – Private Equity Accounting

About the role

The Team Leader will oversee the accounting function for our Private Equity (SA) clients, ensuring delivery against service level agreements while managing a small team of accountants. This role combines technical accounting expertise with client service and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise timely and accurate net asset valuations, consolidated partner capital accounts, quarterly and annual financial statements, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare performance fee, internal Rate of Return (IRR), and equalization calculations as required by fund documentation.
• Set KPIs, train, coach and evaluate direct reports, and manage overall team performance.
• Conduct quarterly client service review calls, gather feedback and ensure client deadlines are met.
• Provide operational feedback to onboarding and private‑equity management teams, contributing to SLA definitions.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the Private Equity IT platform and reporting templates, identifying efficiencies.
• Support regulatory and reporting requirements as they arise.
• Act as authorized signatory on client bank accounts and review payment processes.

Required profile

• Strong background in private‑equity accounting and financial reporting.
• Proven experience supervising accounting teams and managing performance.
• Excellent client‑service orientation with ability to conduct review calls and manage expectations.
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements for private‑equity funds.
