Tax Specialist

About the role

This position is part of the South African Finance team of a leading global travel and leisure group. The Tax Specialist will manage tax compliance across multiple business units and legal entities, while also providing strategic tax risk management and advisory support.

Key responsibilities

• Manage hands‑on tax compliance for all group entities.
• Prepare tax effect accounting work papers for external audit and statutory reporting on a half‑yearly basis.
• Prepare and file corporate income tax, VAT, and withholding tax returns.
• Liaise with the Global Tax team, external auditors, and SARS on queries and audits.
• Support internal audit on tax‑related issues and assist the payroll team with employment taxes.
• Monitor legislative changes, assess tax risks, and implement policy updates.
• Deliver tax‑related training and induction for finance staff.
• Participate in process and system improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in managing tax compliance for multiple entities.
• Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation and SARS procedures.
• Ability to work with global tax teams and external auditors.
• Proactive approach to tax risk identification and mitigation.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder advisory and training.
