Tax & Operations Manager - Accounting Practice

About the role

An established accounting practice is seeking an experienced Tax & Operations Manager to oversee its tax and accounting operations while leading and supporting the financial team. This hands‑on role requires strong South African tax knowledge and leadership ability.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and submit tax returns
• Manage provisional tax and SARS‑related matters
• Lead, supervise and develop the financial team
• Allocate workloads, monitor deadlines and performance
• Oversee day‑to‑day tax and accounting operations
• Review work for accuracy, compliance and quality
• Manage client relationships and queries
• Improve internal processes and workflow
• Ensure deadlines and statutory requirements are consistently met

Required profile

• Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance or similar; SAIT qualification or professional membership essential
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
• Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation and SARS requirements
• Hands‑on experience preparing and submitting individual and company tax returns
• Proven experience leading or supervising a financial/accounting team
• Accounting practice experience highly advantageous
• Strong accounting, organisational and client management skills
