Tax Manager

About the role

The firm of Chartered Accountants in Sunninghill is looking for an experienced Tax Manager to lead its Tax Department. This senior‑level position requires deep knowledge of South African tax law, strong leadership, and a client‑focused mindset.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the entire tax function and ensure compliance with all statutory deadlines.
• Manage a team of Tax Consultants and a Tax Administrator, providing coaching and performance feedback.
• Deliver strategic tax advice to a diverse client portfolio.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of SARS processes and South African tax legislation.
• Coordinate and review tax returns, filings, and related documentation.

Required profile

• BCom Degree with Tax, Advanced Certificate in Tax, or Higher Diploma in Tax.
• Minimum 10 years of proven tax experience, preferably within a chartered accounting environment.
• Registered Tax Practitioner or eligible for registration.
• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.

Required skills

• Advanced SARS eFiling experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with Greatsoft tax software.
• Experience with EasyFile tax platform.
