Tax Administrator

About the role

Our client, a reputable Chartered Accountants firm on the North Coast of Durban, is looking for an experienced Tax Administrator to join their team. The role involves preparing and filing tax returns for both individuals and companies while ensuring strict compliance with South African tax legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit individual and corporate tax returns within statutory deadlines.
• Manage SARS e‑Filing submissions and related correspondence.
• Calculate tax liabilities, including income tax, provisional tax and VAT.
• Assist with VAT201 submissions, reconciliations and provisional tax monitoring.
• Handle SARS queries, audits and verification processes on behalf of clients.
• Maintain accurate client tax records and documentation.
• Liaise with clients to obtain necessary financial information and supporting documents.
• Reconcile tax accounts, resolve discrepancies and support the preparation of tax computations.
• Stay updated on changes to tax laws and implement them in daily practice.
• Provide administrative support to accountants and tax practitioners.

Required profile

• Matric qualification, preferably with Mathematics and/or Accounting.
• Tax Diploma preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in tax calculations and filing individual income tax returns.
• Proven tax administration experience is essential.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the SARS e‑Filing system.
• Experience handling VAT201 submissions and reconciliations.
