Tax Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced tax specialist to join our finance team and drive tax compliance, strategy, and risk management across multiple jurisdictions. The role blends technical delivery with strategic advisory, supporting statutory obligations and providing high‑level tax guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Own preparation and filing of complex corporate tax and VAT returns for several jurisdictions.
• Produce deferred tax calculations and IFRS‑aligned tax disclosures for financial reporting.
• Advise on cross‑border tax issues, transfer pricing, and emerging international tax developments.
• Strengthen tax controls and ensure alignment with group governance objectives.
• Support internal tax audits, liaise with revenue authorities, and assist in litigation matters.
• Contribute to board‑level reporting, including risk disclosures and statutory compliance reviews.
• Research tax matters for discussion at the internal Tax Forum.
• Lead subject‑matter research, deliver technical training, and draft tax policy notes and procedures.

Required profile

• BCom degree with a postgraduate specialization in Taxation or Accounting (Honours).
• 5–8 years of relevant tax experience, preferably with multi‑jurisdictional exposure.
• Experience in the retail industry is advantageous.
