TAFE Teacher – Auto Heavy (Diesel Fitting)

About the role

CQUniversity’s School of Trades is looking for experienced diesel fitters and heavy‑vehicle professionals to join as TAFE Teachers. You will mentor apprentices, deliver practical, hands‑on training and help shape the next generation of tradespeople across heavy vehicle, mobile plant and diesel‑fitting disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver up to 22 hours of classroom and workshop training per week (flexible up to 25 hours by agreement).
• Prepare lesson plans, assessment tasks and mark student work within paid hours.
• Provide ongoing student support, guidance and mentorship.
• Maintain a safe, industry‑relevant training environment.
• Collaborate with the School of Trades team to continuously improve curriculum.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in automotive diesel engine technology, engineering or a related field.
• Significant industry experience as a diesel fitter or heavy‑vehicle technician.
• Ability to work in Rockhampton or Mackay with relocation assistance available.

What we offer

• Permanent full‑time position with a starting salary of $107,697 per year (plus 17% superannuation).
