Systems Controller – Hospital Information Systems

About the role

The Systems Controller provides essential support for the hospital information system, ensuring accurate preparation, maintenance, and distribution of operational, financial, and clinical reports. This role helps maintain data integrity, resolves system queries, and supports efficient hospital operations and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high‑standard service delivery to internal and external customers.
• Ensure smooth operation of the Hospital Information System for patient administration and billing.
• Support the Group Billing Analyst with tariff maintenance and implementation across all hospital databases.
• Keep system definitions up to date and monitor daily automated reports, investigating discrepancies.
• Investigate and resolve patient account and billing queries promptly.
• Provide first‑line system support and escalate issues to the Systems Services Provider when necessary.
• Prepare and present the monthly management pack to the Management Committee.
• Produce weekly and monthly statistical and operational reports.
• Assist the tariff team with data provision and annual tariff file implementation.

Required profile

• Matric and a tertiary qualification in Information Technology.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in system support or health‑care reporting.
• Own vehicle for travel between subsidiaries.
• Professional, courteous attitude with meticulous clerical skills.
• Working knowledge of online, real‑time management information systems and strong interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
