Supervisor – Sport Grounds & Cemeteries

About the role

The Municipality of Hantam is seeking a Supervisor to manage sport grounds, parks, gardens, cemeteries and related waste collection activities in Calvinia. The role combines field supervision, heavy‑vehicle operation and health‑and‑safety oversight to ensure service standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control procedural applications for parks, gardens, cemeteries and sport fields.
• Operate and supervise heavy vehicles such as refuse removal trucks and tractors during maintenance and waste‑collection tasks.
• Supervise personnel, assign tasks and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Coordinate administrative reporting and performance management requirements.
• Oversee the use, maintenance and optimisation of machinery, equipment, tools and materials.

Required profile

• Grade 9 or equivalent technical qualification.
• Valid Driver’s Licence Code C and a PDP.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in municipal or similar environments.

Required skills

• Operation of heavy vehicles (refuse trucks, tractors with trailers).
• Application of health and safety standards in field work.
