About the role
Electrum, a payment software technology company founded in 2012, offers a paid, on-site 4-week summer internship in its Engineering department in Cape Town. The 2027 Summer Internship runs from 11 January to 5 February 2027. Interns work on real customer problems and receive professional training, mentorship and access to career growth opportunities.
Key responsibilities
- Take part in the full life cycle of Electrum's projects
- Work on real customer problems in a FinTech environment
- Receive professional training and on-the-job learning with mentorship from industry experts
Required profile
- Student in their 3rd year or Honours year with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths or Physics
- Minimum average of 65% in all modules
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Required skills
- Experience working with Java at university or through personal projects
- Understanding of object-oriented programming fundamentals
