Software License Management Specialist

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Software License Management Specialist in Cape Town to oversee, optimise and govern the Cornerstone approved engineering software licenses used across its global enterprise. The role sits in the Enterprise Capability team, which acts as the central hub for vendor engagement, application lifecycle management, software rationalisation and governance. It ensures legal and contractual compliance, cost-efficient use of licenses and alignment with technology and business strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a centralised, accurate inventory of Cornerstone engineering software licenses and related documents
• Monitor, audit and validate license usage against vendor terms and agreements, and interpret license entitlements
• Run regular internal audits, improve processes and train employees on compliance to prevent unauthorised installations and use
• Analyse usage data to find underused or redundant licenses, recommend consolidation or rationalisation, and support budgeting and forecasting of license needs
• Support vendor relationship management, including review cycles, renewals and contract updates, and document licensing agreements and procurement history
• Help align license allocations to global service delivery needs and improve license management processes and toolsets
• Collaborate with Budget and Planning analysts, the Software Rationalization Specialist, Governance specialists, IT Procurement and engineering teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, engineering, business or a related field
• Four years of experience in license management and/or software asset management, or equivalent education and experience
• Experience in license management, software asset management or IT procurement
• Global or engineering-focused experience is an advantage

Required skills

• Knowledge of software licensing models (subscription, perpetual, concurrent, named user)
• Experience with engineering applications such as CAD and simulation software
• Proficiency with license management tools and reporting systems
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
