Sub Accountant

About the role

The Sub Accountant will support the finance team by managing supplier payments, cashbook control and related journal entries for a supply‑chain and sales & merchandising company operating in Southern Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Review EFT requests for correct authority, supporting documentation and GL allocation.
• Capture documents and raise the appropriate journal entries in SAP for head‑office payments.
• Set up and process EFT payments via SAP and online banking platforms.
• Regularly review and clear bank clearing accounts, following up on uncleared items.
• Capture debit‑order payments and perform staff debtor reconciliations for designated business areas.
• Prepare the national Telkom account for payment and allocate related journals.
• Manage the head‑office petty‑cash box, approve requests, reconcile and request reimbursements.
• Allocate daily deposits in branch bank accounts and process foreign payments with proper authorisation.
• Compile cash‑forecasting reports, highlight significant deviations and support ad‑hoc journal entries as required.
