Stores Officer (Permanent)

About the role

The Kgatelopele Municipality is seeking a Stores Officer to manage inventory, verify deliveries, and maintain stock records within the Budget and Treasury Office. This permanent position offers a total remuneration package of R176,666.28 per annum and provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic municipal environment.

Key responsibilities

• Verify supplier documentation against physical items, confirming quantity and specifications before receipt.
• Code received stock according to control procedures and store items in appropriate locations.
• Monitor stock levels against safety stock, identify slow‑moving or aged items and seek approval for adjustments.
• Conduct regular stock counts, applying coding/labeling to indicate counted quantities.
• Receive and review transactional documentation to determine requirements and check quantities before issue.
• Collate and verify requisitions, delivery notes and other documents, forwarding them for processing and resolving pricing or discount queries.
• Prepare stock schedules detailing on‑hand quantities, variances and required adjustments for approval.
• Update stock registers, control sheets and filing systems to reflect movements and current balances.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a post‑matric qualification in Accounting or Logistics.
• At least one year of relevant administrative experience involving inventory processes.
• Valid Code B driving licence.
• Basic knowledge of a system‑based inventory management system.
• Ability to work accurately and adhere to municipal policies and procedures.
