Stores Assistant – Blackheath, Cape Town

About the role

The Stores Assistant will support the Blackheath facility by handling the receipt, storage, and issue of equipment and parts. The role ensures accurate inventory management and provides administrative support to the production and spares departments.

Key responsibilities

• Pick, pack and issue items to Production and the Spares Department.
• Receive equipment and parts into Stores as required.
• Perform administrative tasks such as filing, scanning requisitions and bills of materials.
• Follow work instructions from line management and communicate with internal customers and suppliers.
• Participate in stock takes and be accountable for assigned inventory areas.
• Maintain housekeeping of the work area and overall Stores department.
• Report defects, non‑conformances, security concerns and health & safety issues.
• Provide overtime support when needed.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of stores/warehousing experience, including stock‑take.
• High attention to detail and strong accuracy.
• Good written and oral Business English.
• Professional telephone etiquette and customer service skills.
• Basic computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Good attendance record and solid references.
• Awareness of quality, health and safety standards.
