Storekeeper

About the role

As the Storekeeper for Mama Shelter Cape Town, you will be the guardian of all supplies that keep the hotel running smoothly. You will receive, store, and manage ingredients, products, and items with accuracy, care, and efficiency, supporting both the pre‑opening phase and ongoing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive all incoming goods, verify quantities, quality, specifications and condition against purchase orders and delivery documents.
• Inspect deliveries for freshness, accuracy and compliance with food‑safety and brand standards before acceptance.
• Maintain accurate stock records, ensure proper storage practices and keep storage areas clean, organised and clearly labelled.
• Support regular stock counts, inventory movements and reconciliation processes to minimise waste and shortages.
• Monitor stock levels, help control costs and reduce wastage.
• Coordinate with suppliers, purchasing teams and hotel departments to ensure smooth receiving processes and timely product availability.
• Assist in setting up stores and inventory systems during the hotel’s pre‑opening phase.

Required profile

• Experience in storekeeping, receiving or inventory control within a hospitality environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to verify quantities and quality accurately.
• Knowledge of food‑safety standards and hygiene requirements.
• Organised, proactive and able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced setting.
