Store Manager – New Store, Kensington Square, Durban North

About the role

The new Kensington Square store in Durban North is looking for an experienced Store Manager to lead the opening and ongoing operations. You will be accountable for profitability, compliance with brand standards and delivering excellent customer service in a fast‑moving retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the store budget, allocate funds and set financial targets.
• Manage all banking functions, cash handling and cash‑up procedures.
• Drive store profitability through pricing, stock control and expense management.
• Oversee inventory planning, ordering, stock takes (bi‑annual) and shrinkage control.
• Ensure accurate posting of expense items to GL accounts and monitor dormant stock.
• Analyse sales and GP trends, investigate negative variances and implement corrective actions.
• Lead daily ordering, out‑of‑stock management and goods‑in‑transit processes.
• Achieve sales targets across health, beauty and FMCG categories.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Minimum 5 years retail store management experience.
• Computer literate with strong MS Office skills.
• Ability to work retail hours.
• Advantageous: Diploma/Advanced Certificate in Management, BCom, or Retail Management qualification.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with SAP (or Unisolv) inventory systems.
• Knowledge of Qlikview for data analysis.
• Familiarity with Kronos time‑keeping system.
