Stock & Finance Controller (FMCG)

About the role

This position sits at the intersection of stock control, finance and production within a reputable FMCG manufacturing business. It is ideal for an accountant with strong stock experience or a stock controller confident with reconciliations, reporting, VAT compliance and financial controls. Based in Polokwane, the role offers stability, operational exposure and genuine development opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Control raw material, work‑in‑progress and finished‑goods stock.
• Record and reconcile receipts, transfers, returns, invoicing and stock movements.
• Investigate stock variances, wastage, losses and production‑yield discrepancies.
• Verify supplier invoices, GRVs and stock requisitions.
• Conduct cycle counts and full monthly stocktakes.
• Prepare stock valuations, variance reports and management analysis.
• Maintain accurate ERP records and support audit readiness.
• Ensure compliance with SARS VAT requirements and internal financial controls.

Required profile

• 3–5 years FMCG stock‑control experience, preferably in food or meat processing.
• Strong accounting, reconciliation and stock‑valuation capability.
• Sound understanding of VAT compliance and SARS invoice requirements.
• Completed financial articles (beneficial) and fluency in English and Afrikaans.
• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or Supply Chain Management.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems such as Meat Matrix or Sage Evolution.
• Proficiency in VAT compliance processes.
• Ability to work with ERP data for stock valuation and reporting.
