Staff Nurse – Blaauwberg

About the role

An opportunity exists for a Staff Nurse to join the PathCare team at the Blaauwberg branch. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality phlebotomy and pathology services while upholding the company’s values of ethics and integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy procedures and manage patient samples.
• Operate point‑of‑care instruments such as Hemocue, Stratus and arterial blood gas analyzers.
• Process pathology orders, including order of draw and test documentation.
• Maintain accurate patient records using Meditech or similar systems.
• Adhere to safety, ethical standards and company policies.
• Work shifts, weekends and public holidays as required.
• Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required profile

• Enrolled Nurse Certificate and registration with SANC.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence (manual transmission).
• Fluent in English with an understanding of Afrikaans.
• Client‑focused with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under stress, demonstrate tenacity and maintain a positive attitude.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy experience.
• Knowledge of Meditech (or similar) computer systems.
• Experience with point‑of‑care instruments: Hemocue, Stratus, arterial blood gas machines.
