Staff Front-End Engineer – Account Experience

About the role

We are seeking a Staff Front‑End Engineer to lead the Account Experience platform for a global payments merchant system. Based in South Africa and working in a remote‑first environment, you will shape the front‑end architecture that powers onboarding, daily operations, monitoring, and emerging AI‑driven interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve front‑end architecture across multiple product teams, ensuring scalability and high performance.
• Own critical design decisions for state management, performance optimization, and system design.
• Build and maintain shared foundations such as component libraries, design systems, and reusable patterns.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code contributions, and technical guidance without direct authority.
• Champion best practices in accessibility, performance, observability, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and backend teams to align technical and product trade‑offs.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Staff or Principal level in front‑end engineering, influencing architecture across multiple teams.
• Strong technical judgment and ability to raise engineering standards.
• Deep expertise in building large‑scale, long‑lived web applications.
