Specialist Applications Developer / Programmer

About the role

The project involves enhancements, support and maintenance of GIS applications, covering the full software development lifecycle—from analysis and design to build, test and implementation. The role requires using digital GIS and election data to create dynamic, interactive graphics and dashboards that run across multiple web browsers.

Key responsibilities

• Enhance and customise a Windows‑based bulk map production tool to support business processes.
• Compile design and database documents aligned with business requirements.
• Develop test plans and scripts reflecting various scenarios and expected results.
• Conduct component, module and system testing to verify functionality against detailed designs.
• Create interactive and dynamic map graphics depicting election results.

Required profile

• Minimum 48 months experience developing GIS desktop and web‑mapping applications.
• Understanding of enterprise GIS architecture, including client‑server models, web services, APIs, load balancing and caching.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to transfer knowledge formally and informally.
• Team‑oriented mindset, supporting collective goals.
