Sound Lecturer – Teach Audio Production

About the role

The SAE Institute Cape Town campus is looking for a dedicated Sound Lecturer to join its academic team. The role involves delivering practical and theoretical audio production training, mentoring students, and contributing to curriculum development in line with the institute’s vision.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate course learning outcomes with a focus on practical application, theory, workflow and technique.
• Mentor and consult with students, fostering cooperative and self‑regulated learning.
• Research and develop lesson plans and learning materials relevant to sound production.
• Design, moderate, invigilate and assess practical and theoretical assignments.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and assessment results.
• Adhere to SAE policies, academic integrity standards and any additional duties assigned by the Head of Area.

Required profile

• Minimum NQF Level 8 (Honours) in Music or Sound; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least three years of professional experience in sound production and two years of teaching or facilitation experience.
• Strong understanding of academic integrity and excellent communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
• Legal right to live and work in South Africa.

Required skills

• Proficiency with industry‑standard software such as Pro Tools, Ableton and Wavelab.
• Experience setting up and operating live and event sound systems.
• Competence with studio mixing consoles and related hardware.
