Solutions Architect

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Solutions Architect to own the end‑to‑end architecture of the OneDayOnly platform, a high‑velocity e‑commerce daily‑deals service in South Africa. The role bridges product, engineering, data and operations to ensure performance, reliability and scalability for flash‑sale traffic.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end architecture of web, mobile, backend services, data pipelines and operational tooling.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns and best practices across engineering teams.
• Lead architectural reviews and provide technical governance for new initiatives and major changes.
• Identify and remediate technical debt, single points of failure and scalability constraints.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data, DevOps and commercial operations to translate business requirements into technical designs.
• Act as liaison between frontend, backend, mobile and data engineers to ensure coherent solutions.
• Advise non‑technical stakeholders on architectural decisions and business impact.
• Design and govern integration architecture for payment gateways, logistics partners, warehouse management systems and supplier feeds.
• Ensure integrations are robust, observable, fault‑tolerant and capable of handling high‑volume traffic spikes.
• Evaluate and onboard third‑party platforms and APIs while maintaining system integrity.
• Design and oversee cloud infrastructure on Azure and Google Cloud Platform, optimizing performance, reliability and cost.
• Champion DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code and containerisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or similar role in fast‑paced e‑commerce environments.
• Strong ability to work across engineering, product, data and operations teams.
• Deep understanding of performance and reliability as core product attributes.
• Experience with complex third‑party integrations and high‑traffic flash‑sale systems.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business impact for non‑technical audiences.
