Solution Architect – ECommerce (Permanent)

About the role

We are looking for an innovative Solution Architect specializing in ECommerce to join our forward‑thinking IT Architecture team in Durban. You will analyse technology options and design pragmatic solutions that support our retail business objectives across both on‑premise and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse business strategies and processes to define technology requirements.
• Design scalable, maintainable applications and services that deliver measurable outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the software development life‑cycle, including programming, integration, testing and deployment.
• Define and manage non‑functional requirements such as performance, availability, security, scalability and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with governance, risk and legislative standards.
• Participate in platform, technology‑stack and framework selection while aligning with enterprise architecture guidelines.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps, conceptual models and enterprise architecture strategies.
• Build strong relationships with business stakeholders to align solutions with objectives.
• Mentor developers, share best practices and support the growth of future solution architects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related IT discipline.
• Minimum 5 + years experience in IT solutions development.
• 3–5 years experience in solution architecture, preferably within the ECommerce domain.
• Proven track record designing enterprise‑scale applications.
• Retail industry exposure is a plus.
