Solaris 11 Systems Engineer

About the role

Our client, a fintech pioneer delivering secure cloud‑based collection platforms, is seeking a Solaris 11 Systems Engineer to own and optimise its Solaris environments. The role involves ensuring high performance, security and reliability of critical systems while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Solaris 11 servers, including updates, SRU patching and zone management.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Manage user access, roles, permissions and audit logs to uphold security policies.
• Design, implement and test backup and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Analyse performance metrics and fine‑tune configurations for optimal throughput.
• Document system procedures and produce regular performance and security reports.
• Provide technical support to internal users and assist with deployments and integrations.
• Respond to incidents, outages or security breaches and implement preventative measures.
• Liaise with vendors for support, upgrades and evaluate new tools.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of hands‑on Solaris 11 system administration experience.
• Strong understanding of networking, security protocols and firewall configurations.
• Relevant formal qualification preferred; certifications such as Solaris Certified System Administrator are a plus.
• Enthusiastic, detail‑oriented and able to work independently and within a team.
