Software Development Manager – EC2 Instance Placement

About the role

Lead a team of Software Development Engineers responsible for the control‑plane and data‑streaming systems that decide where EC2 instances are placed on physical hosts. You will define the vision, roadmap and data‑driven strategies that improve how AWS delivers compute power to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Build and operate the control‑plane and real‑time data streaming pipelines that drive EC2 instance placement decisions.
• Define and execute a multi‑year roadmap, leveraging data, optimization and machine‑learning techniques.
• Recruit, hire, mentor and grow high‑performing engineers while fostering an inclusive culture.
• Maintain operational excellence and refine agile software development processes.

Required profile

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience with a strong software engineering background.
• Proven ability to lead large‑scale, multi‑tier web services and collaborate with product and program management.
• Demonstrated bias for action, sound judgement and stakeholder engagement skills.

Required skills

• AWS services (EC2, S3, etc.)
• Optimization, machine‑learning and data‑streaming technologies
• Full software/hardware/network development lifecycle practices (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, testing, certification, live‑site operations)
