Software Developer – Java & AWS

About the role

The Alliance Insurance Company is looking for a Software Developer to join its Maseru Head Office. Reporting to the Head of Projects and Innovation, you will help build, secure and scale the company’s digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain Java applications.
• Apply cybersecurity best practices and contribute to secure software architecture.
• Deploy, manage and support applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot, debug and optimise application performance.
• Ensure data security, system availability and compliance with internal policies.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on system enhancements and new features.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java programming.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity concepts such as secure coding, authentication, access control and data protection.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda).
• Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience using Git for version control.
