Site Manager – Mining Operations

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee a mining operation located about an hour from Malelane, South Africa. The role involves leading drill and blasting activities, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering operational plans on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Manage drill and blasting teams of 40+ employees on a shift system.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute drilling and blasting programmes.
• Maintain safety standards and conduct regular risk assessments.
• Monitor equipment performance, particularly Sandvik Di550 and Di650 drill rigs.
• Utilise electronic and pyrotechnic initiation systems effectively.
• Prepare and interpret blast maps using Blast map III software.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Blasting/Mining or Civil Engineering.
• DMRE Opencast Blasting Ticket.
• MQA Surface Rock Breaking Certificate.
• 5‑7 years of drilling and blasting experience in the mining industry.
• Minimum 2 years of experience managing drill and blasting teams.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
